This is a position for an experienced tennis pro with energy, a positive attitude, and experience managing a growing tennis program with a small team of pro's. Our Club has a full variety of tennis players from under 4 years old to over 90 and all in between. The club has 4 Heated indoor courts they were repainted a year ago. Two of our courts are marked out for pickleball and we have a growing pickleball business during the day time. We limit Pickleball to ensure we have enough time for Tennis. This is a salary exempt position. This is a Salary position with Lessons and Bonus on top. A Non Compete will also be required for an acceptable candidate. Reports to: Owner, General Manger, Assistant General Manager, Financial Controller Priorities • The Tennis Director Is responsible for growing the net profitability of all Tennis programming. • The Tennis Director Is responsible for exceeding all other financial or participation goals regarding tennis programs, clinics, drills, teams, camps etc. • The Tennis Director Is responsible for acquiring new and retaining existing tennis business. • The Tennis Director is required to complete all administrative tasks in a timely fashion. • The Tennis Director is required to make time for Pro Development each month. • The Tennis Director is required to spend most of their administrative time on new business acquisition. New Business is to be tracked and communicated each week to general manager and owner in weekly report. • The Tennis Director is required to follow up with all tennis enquiry leads within 24hours except for when the Tennis Director is off work, on these days within 48hrs is acceptable. It is required that all leads have notes put into club automation after any communication whether by phone or electronically without exception. • The Tennis Director is required to follow all communication protocols, this means all notes must be added to club software, all court bookings must be up to date and all member communication must be through the club server and in a timely fashion. (A timely fashion is the same as lead tracking with 24hours or 48hours if off work) • The Tennis Director Is responsible for exceeding client expectations for service and for exceeding client expectations for instruction at every interaction. • The Tennis Director Is required to allocate, reserve (and release as necessary) courts. When a conflict arises Tennis Director/GM makes call to has court preference. The Tennis Director Is required to constantly maintain up to date and accurate court bookings. It is the Tennis Directors responsibility to ensure the desk and the tennis staff are maintaining perfect tennis court bookings and that if it is in the system then the information is accurate and correct. • The Tennis Director Is required to enforce the club’s cancelation policy. The club’s cancelation policy is a 24-hour cancelation notice or full charges will be charged to client. • The Tennis Director Is required to work a varied schedule including some nights, weekends and holidays. • The Tennis Director Is required to wear tennis Pro uniform every work day whether onsite or off. • The Tennis Director Is required to work a minimum of 40 hours a week, these hours are required to be either on court or in the building or on assignment out of the building growing business. • The Tennis Director Is required to clock in and out each day. • The Tennis Director Is required to sign and abide by The Shrewsbury Clubs Tennis Pro Non-Compete Agreement. • The Tennis Director is not permitted to teach any clients that are not processed through, and paid for through, The Shrewsbury Club without prior written consent of the General Manager. • The Tennis Director is required to submit their own, and any staff under their direction’s payroll by payroll Monday 12pm to the Financial Controller. • The Tennis Director Is required to follow up with any unpaid client within 24 hours by email, phone and text for the lesson, clinic, drill, camp or any other instruction. It is understood that The Tennis Director Is responsible to be the initial contact for unpaid or outstanding tennis related balances, before the responsibility is handed off to the business office. • The Tennis Director Is required to submit in writing any payroll increases for subordinates need to be approved by General Manager before any offer is presented to the subordinate. Pay increases, spot bonuses, financial recognition should always be finalized with GM before any employee is made aware. • The Tennis Director Is required to ensure the Tennis department and Tennis Pro’s maintain immaculate tennis courts and facility. • The Tennis Director Is required to preparing a yearly marketing schedule of events and programs in the last quarter for the upcoming year. • The Tennis Director Is required to Schedule, administer, and supervise (when necessary) all USTA tournaments. • The Tennis Director Is required to enforce all club policies for all tennis staff, members and guests. • The Tennis Director Is required to set standards for the front desk, working with the Front Desk Director for payments, bookings, and accommodating all tennis inquiries and functions. • The Tennis Director Is required to prepare and update database records, mailing lists and rosters. • The Tennis Director Is required to report weekly numbers to General Manager and Owners by 6pm Monday. • The Tennis Director Is required to promote and market (pre-sell), # of participants vs. budgeted #, and report weekly. • The Tennis Director Is required to be a part of the Manager on Duty (MOD) schedule. (If and when one is created) • The Tennis Director must maintain current and up to date CPR & First Aid certifications. • The Tennis Director Is required to with GM and or AGM, prepare and implement contingencies in the event of inclement weather. Other Duties. • The Tennis Director Is required to always being punctual, clear, and timely in any communication. • The Tennis Director Must Be respectful and aggressively friendly to both clients and staff and understand the importance of a positive team approach to the workplace. • The Tennis Director is responsible for Increasing club member participation and retention by actively, constantly & personally promoting all clubs programming. • The Tennis Director is responsible for Conducting interviews, hiring, & reviews of Jr. Tennis Professionals with High Performance Tennis Manager, always strictly adhering to all Shrewsbury Club interview guides, Shrewsbury Clubs Core Values, and HR practices. • The Tennis Director Must Participate in and organize regular club tennis events to include Pro Am’s, Club Championship, USTA Tournaments, DBH Tournaments, Jr. Matches Monthly/ Weekly / Daily tennis socials and Drills and Clinics, Round Robins etc. Schedule to be prepared a quarter in advance. Work with GM and AGM on larger events quarterly. • The Tennis Director Must Improve the physical conditioning, supervise, and suggest injury prevention for the tennis players. • The Tennis Director must be fully aware of all programming in and outside the tennis department. • The Tennis Director must work with the Marketing Director to establish and develop marketing strategies for Tennis Programing. • The Tennis Director must Assist in the establishment of pro and player court assignments. • The Tennis Director Coordinates tennis-specific fitness conditioning with fitness staff. • The Tennis Director Assists in the daily set-up and take-down of court equipment. • The Tennis Director Receive feedback in a positive manner. Must be open to constructive criticism and direction from Owner, General Manager, Assistant General Manager, & Financial Controller. • It is expected that The Tennis Director continue their personal development and tennis education to further enhance all programming. • The Tennis Director is expected to Constantly express great enthusiasm for the game of tennis. • The Tennis Director Will Perform ANY duties assigned by Owner, General Manager Assistant General Manager to the standard required by them and with good grace and a positive attitude. Requirements • Must have two or more years of tennis pro experience with managerial responsibilities. • Always embody an enthusiastic, friendly, humble, and positive manner. • Possess a NTRP rating of 5.0 or higher with collegiate playing experience • Hold and maintain at least one nationally recognized certification in tennis.
